Jerry was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in August 2003. At that time he and his wife, Neevra, knew very little about the disease and it was not ever a topic of discussion in public. Since this was all very new to them, Neevra had felt from the start that she wanted to do something constructive to honor her husband while at the same time doing something positive about this devastating disease.
